How to Make a Yo-Yo
|
Making the yo-yo First decide on what size yo-yo you want to make. Cut your fabric in a circle twice the size of the yo-yo you want plus 1/2" more. For example: You want to make
a 2" yo-yo. You cut your fabric in a 4-1/2" circle. Turn the edge of the circle 1/4" toward the wrong side of the fabric. Make small running stitches through both layers of fabric as shown in Figure 1. Make sure to use a strong quilting thread. You do not want the thread to break when you gather the fabric. |

After you have sew all the way around your fabric, it should look like Figure 2. Pull the thread to gather the circle with the right side of the fabric facing out. Make a knot in the thread. See Figure 3. |

Attaching yo-yos together Hold two yo-yos edge to edge with the front sides facing each other (side with hole). Make a few small whip stitches and tie off thread. |
