English Paper Piecing is
a fun easy way to make complex patch work quilts by hand. You use
precut paper pieces to baste your fabric around. After basting, the
pieces are whip stitched together with the paper inside to hold the
accurate shape. Once a shape is completely surrounded by other shapes
the center paper piece can be popped out and reused.

One great thing about English
Paper Piecing is that it is very portable. It is easy to carry a project
with you in your purse or a small bag. You can piece on airplanes,
in waiting rooms, at hospitals, and traveling in the car. My favorite
time to paper piece is during TV time.

The die cut Paper Pieces
are reusable. Quality card stock paper (not freezer paper) allows
you to reuse each piece a number of times.

The
size of a shape is determined by the length of its edge, shown as distance
"S" below. This makes matching of shapes very
easy. A 1" hexagon goes with a 1" diamond, which goes with a
1" triangle, etc.
